Our Initiatives

At Twegaite International Organization, we believe in the power of collective action to drive meaningful change. Through our various initiatives, we focus on improving education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and cultural preservation in the Busoga region of Uganda and beyond.

Girl Education Initiative: Empowering Girls, Transforming Futures

The Girl Education Initiative is at the heart of our mission to uplift and empower the next generation of leaders in Busoga. We believe that educating girls is one of the most powerful investments we can make in the future of our communities.

Studies show that every additional year of education can increase a girl’s earning power by 10 to 20%. Educated girls are more likely to lead healthier lives, contribute to their communities, and break the cycle of poverty for future generations.

Under the esteemed patronage of Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, we provide essential resources such as sanitary pads and scholastic materials to remove barriers that often keep girls out of school. This initiative is funded by proceeds from events like the Twegaite International Source of the Nile Marathon.

Thousands of girls in Busoga have benefited from our support, enabling them to pursue their education and dreams without interruption.

Microfinance Project: Empowering Communities Through Financial Support

The Twegaite International Microfinance Project has been empowering communities in Busoga since 2008 by providing low-interest loans and financial literacy training. This initiative focuses on supporting women and youth, groups that are often underserved in traditional financial markets.

  • Low-Interest Loans: In partnership with Finfort Uganda, we offer loans at just 5% interest to make financial support accessible to women and youth.
  • Targeted Support: We focus on empowering local farmers and entrepreneurs to foster economic growth and self-reliance.
  • Success Stories: Local farmers, such as the members of the Alininkira Group in Buwagi, have seen remarkable progress in agriculture and animal husbandry, thanks to our microfinance support.

Our microfinance project has transformed lives by enabling community members to start businesses, improve farming practices, and achieve financial stability.
